2024 Tuskegee Airmen Commemoration Day

(A one-of-a-kind Educational Experience)

On March 29, 2007, the extraordinary Tuskegee Airmen and women received the United States Congress Congressional Gold Medal from President George W. Bush for their bravery during WWII. Starting in year 2023, our fellow Philadelphians and Pennsylvanians join in celebration of Tuskegee Airmen Commemorative Day in Pennsylvania. (Our celebration takes place on April 5th in year 2024 because March29th is on Good Friday). During this event, we are honoring the legacy of both men and women reflective of diverse races and ethnic backgrounds who participated in the Tuskegee Experience. This day is the result of unanimous approval by both the PA House of Representatives and the Senate with legislation signed on November 15, 2022 by Tom Wolfe, Governor Emeritus. The commemoration of these events officially designates March 29th as Tuskegee Airmen Commemorative Day in Pennsylvania for which the Greater Philadelphia Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc and our National Tuskegee Airmen organization are honored.

This year we will honor the Bush, Showell and Walker families with a replica of the Tuskegee Airmen Congressional Gold Medal and DOTA (Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen Certificate). Special speakers include Keynote Speaker, Dr. Robert J. Kodosky, Dean of History at West Chester University and Mary Groce, Great-niece of Emory Malick, the first licensed Black pilot in U. S. His license number is 105.

Dr. Kodosky’s publications include the recently published books “Tuskegee in Philadelphia: Rising to The Challenge” and “The Nile Swim Club of Yeadon”.

Informative and invigorating presentations by Dr. Kodosky and Mary Groce will be supplemented with authentic Tuskegee Airmen photos and video footage. This combination will make the event a one-of-a-kind educational experience to be enjoyed by people of all ages. As stated below, you may obtain and view the Video of this event.
